4am wake-up calls are never fun, but knowing that I was going to photograph Sam and Duncan’s engagement session on Cadillac Mountain made getting out of bed a little easier! Since they live a ways away from Maine, these two had asked about the possibility of doing their engagement session the morning before their wedding day. Of course, I said yes! I always love getting to spend time with the couples I photograph before the big day, no matter how far in advance.

After watching the weather with eagle eyes for the few days leading up to their session, we just missed the rain that ended as soon as we exited the car! Although there wasn’t much of a sunrise on top of Cadillac Mountain, the colors of the sky were beautiful pastels as the sun rose behind the clouds. Sam and Duncan have such a fun relationship, and went with the flow all morning, despite the chill in late September. I loved getting to photograph them and it was a wonderful way to kick off their wedding celebration!
