Unique Maine Honeymoon Ideas | Planning Your Getaway

Whether you are planning a lengthy, relaxing vacation or a short weekend getaway after your wedding day, Maine is the perfect location for honeymoons big and small. I sat down and collected a few of my favorite locations around the state, ideal for newlywed couples looking for an adventure.

Maine Honeymoon Ideas

 Treehouse in Georgetown

How cool would it be to spend your honeymoon in a treehouse?! Georgetown is a short drive from tons of great Maine locations like Popham Beach and the historic town of Bath. Browse the shops on Main Street, explore Fort Popham and visit Seguin Lighthouse. Tons of other great Maine attractions are just short drive away! Personally, I would be spending most of my time in that awesome hot tub. Learn more.

Lake House in Boothbay Harbor

Boothbay Harbor is near and dear to my heart. While I am not far from the coast, traveling out to the ocean feels like a home away from home. Spending an afternoon on the coastline and listening to the waves crash is the perfect way to begin a life together. End your days with dinner at one of the amazing restaurants in town, and of course, ice cream. Always ice cream. Learn more.

Cabin in Bar Harbor

Bar Harbor is the quintessential Maine vacation spot and for good reason. Even though the summers are busy, you can find peace and quiet all over the island. Enjoy hiking the through Acadia National Park, exploring downtown Bar Harbor, and all the other fun things the island has to offer. Nothing beats the sunrise over Cadillac Mountain! Learn more.

Lodge in Moosehead

When I was doing a little research for this blog post, I knew I wanted to include a lodge of some kind, because you can’t visit the mountains of Maine without staying in a lodge! When I found this place, my jaw dropped. It is now on my list of places to drag Brad to this year. Northern Maine is gorgeous any time of year and has everything from canoeing on Moosehead Lake in the summer to riding the snowmobile trails in the winter. Learn more.

Cottage on Monhegan Island

Monhegan Island is the place to go if you are looking to unplug and get away from the normal hustle of daily life. The island is 10 miles off the nearest mainland and accessible by ferry from Port Clyde, New Harbor or Boothbay. With miles of trails to hike, a small village with restaurants, local shops and art galleries, there is plenty to experience during your visit! Learn more.
