When planning your engagement session, it can be difficult to pick the perfect place to take your photos! Maine is full of gorgeous locations around every corner. As a Maine wedding photographer, I have traveled all over the state to document couples. Throughout my adventures, I have compiled a list of my five favorite Maine engagement session locations. Enjoy!
Pemaquid Point Lighthouse
PEMAQUID, MAINE
Pemaquid Point holds a special place in my heart, having grown up in the area for most of my life. The lighthouse and rocky coastline are such a beautiful backdrop, especially on a glowy summer evening. Plus, a stop for dinner at Shaw’s Wharf after your session is always a bonus!
Acadia National Park
BAR HARBOR, MAINE
There are hundreds of amazing spots for photographs around Acadia, but two of my favorite locations are Otter Cliff and Jordan Pond! Both of these locations are on Park Loop Road, a one-way road that circles Acadia. Otter Cliff has gorgeous views of the ocean along the cliffs, making it a wonderful spot for a Maine engagement session. Jordan Pond offers a beautiful backdrop of “The Bubbles”, two notable mountains that are located beyond the pond. Don’t forget popovers at the Jordan Pond House – yum!
Portland Head Light
CAPE ELIZABETH, MAINE
Portland Head Light and Fort Williams Park is a short 15 minute drive outside of the city. The park has so many locations to choose from and can provide a ton variety in your final gallery. Paths wind along the coastline with a view of the famous lighthouse, as well as a small beach, historic buildings and the beautiful Children’s Garden.
Camden Harbor
CAMDEN, MAINE
The downtown Camden area offers a variety of locations, including the Camden Amphitheatre, Harbor Park and Laite Memorial Beach. There is tons to explore in the area and so many places to capture beautiful engagement photos. Make your session a true date night and end your evening at one of the amazing restaurants around town!
Mackworth Island
FALMOUTH, MAINE
Mackworth Island State Park is a peaceful escape from the hustle of Portland. As you cross the causeway to the island, you would never guess that you’re just minutes outside of the city! From beautiful winding paths through the woods to sandy beaches, Mackworth offers all kinds of backgrounds and lighting for fun, diverse engagement session images.
