Ideal Engagement Session Locations in Midcoast Maine

Choosing the prime location is an important aspect of any engagement session! Whether you’re a bride/groom-to-be or a photographer, finding the right location can be a challenge. I put together a list of some of my favorite places in the midcoast Maine region. If you are new to the area or looking for some fresh ideas, keep reading!

Colonial Pemaquid

Colonial Pemaquid Dr, New Harbor, ME

Colonial Pemaquid is just a short drive from the heart of Damariscotta and is home to Fort William Henry, a historic fort from 1696, as well as gorgeous views of the Pemaquid River. The variety in this location is perfect for photography, allowing you plenty of options to create a diverse engagement gallery! The small, quiet beach is a personal favorite of mine to photograph on. Golden hour at Colonial Pemaquid is something special. For even more diversity in your images, Pemaquid Lighthouse is just a short drive away! Visit Colonial Pemaquid’s website here.

Vesper Hill Children’s Chapel

Chapel Road, Rockport, ME

This secluded spot is great for engagement sessions. It features gardens with a variety of blooms, a view of the ocean, and a gorgeous outdoor chapel that is also a popular wedding location! The options are endless for photo sessions at Vesper Hill. Visit the Vesper Hill Children’s Chapel website here.

Great Salt Bay Farm

110 Belvedere Road, Damariscotta, ME

The Damariscotta River Association cares for a huge variety of land in the Damariscotta area. One of my favorite locations is Great Salt Bay Farm. Over 100 acres of trails weave through the fields and woods. Great Salt Bay is a brief walk away and the rolling fields make a beautiful background for portraits! Visit the Damariscotta River Association online here.

Ocean Point

Point Road, East Boothbay, ME

Ocean Point feels like the epitome of coastal Maine perfection. This road winds its way along the coastline and seeing cars pulled over to enjoy the view is a frequent sight. My favorite part are the rocky beaches that are easily accessible from the road but make you feel like you are miles away. Exploring the shoreline is nearly as much fun as the photo session itself!

Fort Popham

219 Popham Road, Phippsburg, ME

Fort Popham is not only a beautiful coastal spot, but also an amazing historic landmark! The fort offers offers so much for a photo session. Just outside the fort is a small beach which can add a ton of variety to your images! Popham Beach is also just a short drive away. Nothing is more beautiful than golden hour on the beach with someone you love. You can learn more about Fort Popham here and Popham Beach here!
