2016 was both crazy and wonderful. Looking back on the past year brings up some great memories. I met tons of amazing people and their beautiful ponies. I traveled to places I've never been and flew on a plane alone for the first time. I made the decision to go part-time at my reliable office job and allow myself to focus even more on Melissa Gebert Photography. It is amazing to see how far this small business and I have come in just a year!
Looking forward to the new year, I wanted to take a moment and write down my goals. I am a complete believer in documenting your goals and giving yourself a visual of what you would like to accomplish. I recently found a list of New Years resolutions I made for myself 6 years ago when I was 15. I'm happy to say it looks like I have accomplished most of them at this point. Other than eating healthy and working out. I try, I swear. Its the thought that counts...
So, without further adieu, here are my goals for 2017!
Become more consistent with blogging and social media.
If you haven't noticed, posting on a regular basis is not my forte. I think it is something every creative business owner struggles with, but I am determined to kick myself in the butt this year and make it happen!
Start horse showing again!
After retiring my horse Twizzler in the fall of this year, I have begun riding more regularly again. Who would've thought that having a horse able to breathe regularly would make life so much easier?! Lace is a Saddlebred/draft cross. She is a green 9 year old, but is one smart cookie and already has figured out SO much over the past few months. I am excited to see where 2017 takes us!
Take the ponies to Acadia over the summer
If you have never been to Bar Harbor, Maine, I would HIGHLY recommend it. The amount of tourists can be a little overwhelming, but it is all worth it because the area is BEAUTIFUL! I have wanted to take a trip to ride on the carriage trails for years now, and this year I am finally going to set aside a weekend to do it!
Build a house!
This is definitely the biggest, scariest, most exciting thing on my list of goals for 2017! Brad and I have been working on the plans for a house for over a year now, and I am hoping this is the year it comes to life!
Work out and eat healthy
Every year, without fail. It's gonna happen, guys!
Take MGP on the road to Aiken, SC and/or Ocala FL
I am already looking at the possibility of making a trip to the horse capitals of the US! Right now it is just on the drawing board, but with enough interest we can make it happen sooner rather than later! If you or someone you know may be interested, please e-mail me!
Leave a comment and let me know what your goals for the year are! I can't wait to look back on this list at the end of the year and see how things played out. There is nothing like the start of something new!
